The American Curriculum is one of the most popular curricula in the world today due to its practical application and ease of understanding. With the advent of the Common Core Standards, the American Curriculum has become one of the most sought after in the world due to its success in preparing students for college and career readiness. RAIS has aligned its vision with such high standards to make sure that all students leave high school prepared for their future. The Common Core is informed by the highest, most effective standards from across the United States and countries around the world. The standards define the knowledge and skills students should gain throughout their K-12 education to graduate from high school prepared to succeed in entry-level careers, introductory academic college courses and workforce training programs.
To prepare students for college and career readiness, and to enhance and advance teachers' practices to the highest international standards.
There is strong emphasis in teaching Muslim students to live in the Islamic faith within the context of the American Educational Programs.
Welcome to Al Resalah American International School. RAIS is a new American curriculum school located in the Emirate of Sharjah, Al Rahmania area. Alhamdulillah, the school had its humble beginning opening in August 2015. Our objective is to impart to learners the requisite secular and Islamic knowledge, in the appropriate balance, of a standard that will readily be recognized by any professional educational organization. To achieve this objective, we are committed to excellence and quality in every aspect of the learning process. The curriculum is based on an integrated system to provide a well-balanced program. The education of our children is student-centred, emphasizing the uniqueness of each individual. We believe that all children have special abilities and that each child is unique. It is our duty to nurture these abilities. As such, our core ideology is that EVERY CHILD IS IMPORTANT. Our teaching methods are designed to stimulate, motivate and encourage each child to achieve to his or her full potential, taking into account each child’s talents and needs.
At Athena, we value every student and celebrate individual needs. This begins the moment they enter our schools. In the first days of every student’s entrance, their teacher completes initial checklists which highlight their needs and strengths. Our Inclusion leads then review these with the teachers to identify students who may need additional support or challenge. Once a student has been identified with individual needs, they are recorded on our Inclusion Register, and their journey of personalized inclusive care begins. Following the procedures on the Inclusion Flowchart (see below), we form a team of dedicated professionals around the student including the student themselves, parents, teachers, inclusion leads and where applicable specialists or therapists. This team works together to compile an Individual Education Plan (IEP), and communication is constant throughout the academic year. We come together each term to review the IEP and celebrate the student’s achievements for that term. Our team have access to a range of assessment tools to identify a wide variety of needs and abilities. All pupils of determination and our gifted and talented students are tracked individually to monitor their attainment and progress, helping us to tailor support in achieving their goals.
